Shanti Yoga Glasgow's yoga classes in the West End of Glasgow vary to provide a good overall practice and understanding of Yoga. Classes therefore work towards improving the body and the mind. Each class aims to take each student into a stronger and more focussed place. 

Ashtanga Flow Yoga involves synchronising the breath with a series of postures. The body is kept moving in line with the breath, a process which creates internal heat, purifying and detoxifying sweat, which leads to improved circulation, increased concentration and focus and a more supple, strong and toned body. Shanti Yoga's classes have a big focus on strength work as well as flexibility work, in order to challenge and tone the body.

 Offers: There are two offers running this week (week beg 06/02). Two classes for £10, one of the classes must be a morning class (7am or 10am). The second offer is if you attend one of the Saturday general classes and the meditation class, both will be £10. Classes must be booked in advance. It can be used in conjunction with a monthly pass however only one class of the two will be marked off, in relation to the free class.

Bookings & Passes:

All Shanti Yoga classes are £6 per class, general yoga classes last between an hour to an hour and 15 mins. It is advised that spaces should be booked beforehand as certain classes are particularly busy. You can book by text or email Sasha (see contact details page). Classes should be cancelled at least 10 hours beforehand by contacting Sasha.

Monthly Passes: Monthly (4/5) passes are available to purchase at the beginning of each month for those who come religiously to one class a week. The pass will be for one class a week for the full month, prices are dependant on whether its a four or five week month. All classes for the month should be paid for at once. It will still work out as £6 a class however this pass entitles you to a free class for every 8 weeks. There will be no refunds for any last min cancellations.  

 

 Class definitions:                                                                           

'wake-up yoga': Start your day the right way! This class is a 'Vinyasa-flow' class, its still challenging with stamina and flexibility work but mainly focussed around waking up your body and preparing you for the day ahead. There will be a small ten minute relaxation at the end to clear your mind and give you the balance that you might need. 

'general yoga': These classes are challenging, sweaty and invigorating. They are 'Ashtanga Style, Vinyasa Flow'. The classes are based on stamina, strength, core and flexibility. This is a class that will open up your body and tone your body at the same time. There is a 15-20 minute relaxation at the end, for a well deserved mind unwind, 'pre-bedtime'. Although, this is a challenging class, anyone is welcome in this class. Many beginners have started in this class and progressed with the challenge well. In this class, there is a good mix of beginners and some students that have been attending Shanti Yoga Glasgow for longer. Sasha aims to allow each student to take their practice at their own pace with a range of options from easier to harder, all demonstrated. (see section for beginners and guidelines for class, for more info).

'pregnancy yoga': These classes are for all pregnant women over 14 weeks until the last days of your pregnancy. Classes are based around opening up the body and preparing your body for your pregnancy and your labour. The classes are adapted pregnancy 'Vinyasa-flow' and there is a large focus on breathing techniques, labour techniques and birthing balls. (see section for pregnancy yoga for more info).

'beginners yoga': This class is for all people who feel that they need a build-up to the general class. It is an introductory class for complete beginners to yoga, with an aim to move up to the general yoga classes, in your own time. Classes will go through the fundamentals and the basic poses of yoga, with detail. Many people many choose to attend this class that simply prefer a more slower paced yoga style. There is a ten minute relaxation at the end of class (see section for beginners and guidelines for class, for more info).

'meditation class': This class is based mainly clearing the mind. There will be breathing techniques (pranayama), some light yoga poses and meditation techniques. This class is specifically good for people who suffer from stress and anxiety or anyone who just wants to learn how to have a clearer, more focussed and positive mind, in order to improve your quality of life. 

In addition to classes, Sasha can provide each yoga student with a personal home program to do for about 10-20 mins a day in between classes, focussed on specific problem areas and to ensure that you benefit the most of your regular classes. 

 

Hidden Lane Studio:                                                                        

This studio is used solely for Shanti Yoga, Reiki & Massage sessions. It is a smaller studio than the Steiner School but calm and comfortable . The studio is located in the Hidden Lane, Finnieston (see directions). It is a blissful escape from reality where you can find your inner calm and completely relax and focus. Classes will be more personal and suited to individual needs in this space. Luxury mats are provided however feel free to bring your own mat! There is a also a bigger range of equipment such as belts, blankets and birthing balls (pregnancy yoga) available. 

The Steiner School:                                                                               

The Steiner School is used on a Monday and Wednesday night for the later general classes. It is a lofty and spacious space and enables Shanti Yoga Glasgow to provide classes on a much larger scale to its clients. Availability to these classes will be more easily accessible. 

 

Private Yoga Classes or 1-2-1's:     

Private yoga classes  or 1-2-1's are available in the west-end studio or in your own home at highly reasonable rates of £20 for an hour, per session. Bookings are taken for classes outside of the West End but maybe slightly higher due to travel costs. 

As this is your own private yoga class, the class will be very specific and personalized. It will be organised around what you want to take from yoga e.g focus on fitness, anxiety relief, relaxation or a specific area e.g. back pain or sciatica.
